Mow as often as possible
- At least every 4 or 5 days, then it takes less time and the lawn will develop a denser sward.
- If possible, cut in a different direction to the previous cut.
- Cutting height for an average lawn should be no lower than 20mm.
- Most lawns have some unevenness and if the cutting height is kept to 20mm it will not scalp the high spots.
-

Always remove the clippings. This is called “boxing off” that cuts down the development of thatch which is a layer of dead decaying vegetation.  If grass clippings are left on the lawn it will encourage fungal attacks and worm activity.  Boxing off will also lessen the spread of broad-leafed weeds and some small leafed weeds like Speedwells which are reproduced by vegetative means.

- Choice of mower For best finish, buy the best cylinder mower you can afford or a good quality rotary such as a Honda with roller.
